  "Right-to-Work" campaign
   DFT Local 231 Executive Board urges you to not sign "Right-to-Work" petitions. "Right-to Work " would jeopardize
   your union-negotiated wages and benefits.

  Do not lose your certification
  More than 60 DPS teachers lost their jobs at the end of the 2006-07 school year because they

  failed to meet the requirements for state certification. Click Here

 

  Sept. 20 "Quality Schools" Meeting

  The first meeting of the "Committee for First Class Quality Schools" was held after school
  Thursday, Sept. 20, 2007, at the DFT office. Committee membership is open to all DFT
  members. The committee, which was voted on at the Sept. 13  Membership Meeting, will

  assist the union in gathering information to file a citywide grievance over class-size violations,
  inadequate books/supplies, program cuts and inadequate facilities.

  Stop Privatization
   In 1994, Michigan P.A.112  made the privatization of non-instructional employees - social workers,
   psychologists,  bus drivers, custodians, secretaries, etc. - a subject that could not be discussed at the
   bargaining table.
   Since that time many school districts have  privatized those jobs. Legislation (HB 4533) is pending to
   repeal that part of P.A.112.  The bill passed the House and is now before the Senate. Please take a
   minute to send a letter to your Senator urging support of HB 4533. Click Here
